ATTENTION EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

ILLEGAL USE CITATION FEES HAVE INCREASED TO $100 PER CITATION.

All persons illegally sharing a parking permit with another Student, Employee or Guest shall be fined and risk immediate  tow of vehicle. This will include additional tow fines. All permits are for the sole individual it has been issued and cannot be transferred or shared . (See WMU Parking Rules and Regulations 2.6, 5.2, 5.3 and 7.7). 

ILLEGAL USE OF ACCESSIBLE SPACES (formally known as handicap) AND/OR ILLEGAL USE OF A STATE ISSUED ACCESSIBLE PERMIT, FEES HAVE INCREASED TO $200 PER CITATION.

All persons illegally parking in an Accessible space shall risk fine and possible towing of the vehicle. (See WMU Parking Rules and Regulations 8.1). WMU does enforce the State of Michigan Disability-parking related violations.

Parking Services is open Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Friday from 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Parking permits are required for all Students, Faculty and Staff.  And it is the responsibility of everyone to purchase/renew and maintain their individual parking information and permit.  

Student Parking permits for the academic year 2023-2024 will become available beginning August 1, 2023.  The full academic year permits are valid August through August of the following year.  Semester permits, daily permits and weekly permits are also available and can be purchased at any time.  Student parking permits will be required on the first day of class for each semester and cannot be shared with other students. Students may NOT use meters in replacement of a permit for anytime, if found using meters a student may be ticketed and towed at the owner's expense.

IF YOU ARE WAITING ON FINANCIAL AID YOU MUST PURCHASE SHORT TERM DAILY OR WEEKLY PASSES UNTIL YOU CAN PURCHASE A FULL SEMESTER OR YEAR PERMIT.  PERMITS ARE NOT BILLED TO THE STUDENT ACCOUNT.  Waiting for Financial Aid does not constitute parking illegally.

Faculty, Staff and Retiree parking permits for 2023-2024 vary in dates and must be renewed annually in January, May, August and October; based on your employment status. Do NOT expect notifications for renewal. You may confirm your expiration date and manage your vehicle on your GoWMU parking portal.

Visitors, Vendors and Contractorsmay purchase parking permits, pay meters, or contact the department host for a permit.

August 30, 2023 - December 16, 2023

Permits required in all Employee, Student commuter and On-campus housing lots.

December 17, 2023 - January 7, 2024

Permits restriction are not enforced in Student commuter and On-campus housing lots.

 January 8, 2024 - April 27, 2024

 

Spring or Academic year permits will be required for Student, Employee and On-campus housing lots. To obtain your permit, please click on the "Get a Permit" tab. 

WHAT’S NEW?

  • Student parking permits will be required on the first day of class for each semester.
  • Parking permits are no longer required from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. weekdays or from 4 p.m. Friday through 2 a.m. on Monday.
  • Non-permit violations (Accessibility spaces, reserved spaces, 15 minute spaces, 30 minute spaces, “not parked in a marked space” infractions, tow zone, Meters, etc.) will still be enforced at all times.
